Dr. John Musa Zabiri serves as the Deputy Provost (Administration), responsible to the Provost for the effective and smooth co-ordination of administrative and non-academic functions of the College. DR. JOHN MUSA ZABIRI (Ph.D, PGDE, MPPSN, MTRCN) Deputy Provost (Administration) Adamawa State College of Education, Hong Dr. John Musa Zabiri is an accomplished academic, administrator, and educationist with over three decades of experience in teaching, research, and institutional leadership. He currently serves as Deputy Provost (Administration) at Adamawa State College of Education, Hong, following his appointment by the Governing Council in 2023. As a principal officer, he is a member of the College Management and Expanded Management Committees. He previously served as Dean, School of Undergraduate Studies; Head, Department of Biology; and Member of the Academic Board, alongside chairing and serving on numerous committees that have strengthened institutional governance and academic development. Born on 3rd February 1963 in Mbumara, Demsa LGA of Adamawa State, Dr. Zabiri was educated at Wunti Primary School, Bauchi; Government Secondary School, Ningi; and Government Science Secondary School, Toro. He obtained a B.Sc. in Biology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1987), and later earned a PGDE (2002) and M.Sc. in Applied Entomology and Parasitology (2011) from the University of Maiduguri, as well as a Ph.D. in Public Health Parasitology from Modibbo Adama University, Yola (2021). He received the NYSC Meritorious Service Award (1988). He began his career in 1989 with the PPSMB and joined Adamawa State College of Education, Hong, in 1992, rising to Chief Lecturer in 2018. Dr. Zabiri has published over 24 scholarly articles and a book, participated in numerous academic programmes, and served as External Examiner/Moderator at the Federal College of Education, Yola. He is a member of the Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria (PPSN), Entomological Society of Nigeria (ESN), and Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). He also served as College Chaplain (2011–2018) and has been Patron of the Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS) since 2002. Dr. Zabiri is married to Mrs. Ernomoh Dubi and is blessed with six children. He is passionate about agriculture and currently chairs the Mbula Agro-Economic Development Committee, reflecting his commitment to community development.

The Deputy Provost (Administration) is responsible to the Provost for the effective and smooth co-ordination of all administrative and non-academic functions of the College. The office works closely with the Registrar, Bursar, and Directors of non-academic units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-ordination of all non-academic administrative functions of the College.
  • Supervision of administrative Directors and non-academic service units.
  • Oversight of staff welfare, establishment matters, and human resource functions.
  • Coordination of College security, works, and infrastructure matters.
  • Liaison with government ministries and agencies on administrative matters.
  • Oversight of procurement processes and financial administration support.
